PHOENIX — Personal trainer Roxana J. has discovered a great way to train senior citizens and people trying to rehab from serious injuries. It’s a growing phenomenon knows as accelerated vibration training.

If you haven’t heard of it yet, you probably will. Half the NFL teams use these machines, which allow people to strength train, stretch or even get a massage depending on the settings and exercises or stretches they perform.

Vibration machines are so versatile, though, they they’re also becoming increasingly popular with people ranging from senior citizens, to rehab patients and even individuals dealing with chronic health problems or disabilities.

Roxana J.’s preferred brand of vibration machines are the award-winning lineup from 3G Cardio.
“I actually have a lot of clients who are a little bit older, 60 and up,” said Roxana, whose business Revolution RX Fitness helps train up to two dozen clients a week in the Phoenix and Scottsdale areas. “My older clients want to get fit and to have their muscles feel firm and athletic and get that heart rate going. However, they can’t take all the impact that other workouts put on their bodies.”

That’s where the 3G Cardio vibration machines come into play beautifully. The vibrations activate muscles much more efficiently and safely than traditional methods — up to 95 percent of muscle fibers are utilized compared to 20-40 percent, according to some studies.

“Older clients can do a squat and feel good about it without having their knees crackling and popping or their ankles bothering them,” Roxana said.

Admittedly, Roxana said some clients look at her with great skepticism when she initially shows them a 3G Cardio vibration machine.

“They look at me at first and say, ‘This is dumb. How is it any different than exercising on the ground or floor?’” she said with a smile. “I make them do something like a pushup, or a squat on the ground and then I have them do it on the 3G and they are begging me to get off.

“I love the strength straining part of it — feeling the body react.”

Roxana shared the story of a couple that both recently turned 80 who have greatly benefitted from using a 3G Cardio Vibration machine.

“The oldest couple I work with loves the 3G,” she said. “The wife has some knee issues, and the gentleman wanted to feel strong and young again.

“They’re in their early 80s and love it. They can do their workout on it and not feel a lot of pain.”

Then, there’s a rehab patient in his 50s, who battled serious neck and shoulder injuries before Roxana introduced him to 3G Cardio vibration machines.

“What I love about the 3G is that he is able to find where his body needs to be and push it to the right point and not go beyond that,” Roxana said. “He is still able to feel that push and feel athletic without having a lot of shoulder and neck pain.

“It used to be that he was always getting hurt trying to use any type of free weights or even home gyms. Lying down on the ground hurt him when we first started.”

Roxana calls herself a “core-centric trainer,” putting the biggest focus on “the ribs down, and knees up.”
She uses 3G machines to help people build powerful cores and help their backs feel strong. She likes to do different types of leg lifts and leg extensions while a person is using the vibration machine, as well as planks, squats and much more.
Roxana trains clients ranging in age from 27 to 81 and elite athletes to senior citizens.

“I love the fitness part of the 3G vibration trainer and working out with it whether you’re a beginner or an advanced athlete,” she said, “and just shocking people with what you can do on it and then having them tell you how their body feels afterward.”
